Mental Hum for iOS

Accessibility

Mental Hum for iOS · August 22, 2026

A paper is only as good as it is readable. These are the commitments this app makes.

Text size

Every page follows Dynamic Type, from the smallest setting to the largest accessibility sizes · including the crisis banner, the datelines, and the small print, which are often left behind.

Easier reading

The type button on the front page sets the whole paper in OpenDyslexic, a typeface designed for readers with dyslexia, bundled under a free licence.

VoiceOver

Stories, filters, crisis entries, and controls carry descriptive labels. The crisis line numbers are spoken digit by digit so they are unambiguous.

The evening printing

The paper prints in daylight cream or evening ink, following your phone's light and dark setting · or held to either one in Settings. Both printings keep body text at comfortable contrast.

Contrast and motion

Ink on paper is kept at comfortable contrast throughout, color never carries meaning alone, and the app uses no flashing and no motion tricks.

Something in the way?

If any page resists your eyes, your screen reader, or your hands, that is a defect · please write to the Support address and it will be treated as one.

This page mirrors the page shown inside the app under Settings. The app is the canonical copy · when the app changes, this page is re-issued with it.
